INTRODUCTION
The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) offers credentials and assessment services. They examine candidates’ credentials and education outside of Canada to see if they differ significantly from those of physiotherapists trained in Canada. To determine whether physiotherapists with training in Canada or abroad are prepared to practise safely, effectively, and independently, CAPR conducts the Physiotherapy Competence Assessment
We have to follow these steps to apply for credentialing.
- The Canadian Physiotherapy Practice Self Assessment Readiness Test (SART) must be completed (currently unavailable). It is intended to aid physiotherapists with training from other countries in understanding the Canadian physiotherapy profession. You can get useful knowledge from it to aid in making significant decisions for your future.
- Read the Credentialing Policies and the Credentialing Application Process Handbook. Verify your eligibility before applying.
- Forms A, B, C, and D for evaluating educational credentials should be printed and filled out. Suppose you received your education in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Cuba, Egypt, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, The Philippines, or Ukraine. Documentation from institutions other than your educational institution must be submitted to those nations.
- Fill out the credit card part of the Application Form (Form A), OR submit your application with a certified check, money order, or bank draught.
- Sign and date the Application Form (Form A) after reading the Important Notes section and the Consent/Waiver.
- You can use the Application Checklist (Form B) as a reference to help you gather all the paperwork required to support your application.
- Gather all required documentation, assemble your application package, and mail it with your payment
Submitting Your Application
Follow these steps to submit your credentialling application:
- Complete the document request form’s first page (Form D) and send it to your physiotherapy school. The Document Request Form (Form D) must be completed by your physiotherapy school and sent to our office with the other necessary papers, as specified on the Document Request Form (Form D).
- Make a copy of your Application Form (Form A) when you’ve finished filling it out and signed it, and retain the original for your records.
- Get a current passport-quality photo, and sign and date it on the reverse.
- Using a paper clip to secure the photo to the Identification Documents Form (Form Cappropriate )’s location would be best.
- Take these items to a Notary Public:
- proof of legal name change (if applicable)
- your original degree/diploma/certificate for your entry to practice physiotherapy education
- your Clinical Internship Certificate (if applicable).
- Have the originals of the documents mentioned above duly notarized, making sure the Notary Public signs all copies and places their seal, contact information, and signature on them.
- Complete the Application Checklist (Form B).
- Give them your whole application packet via mail. A notarized copy of your proof of a legal name change (if applicable), your completed Application Checklist (Form B), your completed Application Form (Form A), the required fees, a photograph of yourself signed and dated, a notarized copy of your degree, diploma, or certificate from your entry-level physiotherapy education, and a notarized copy of your internship certificate must all be included in your application package (if applicable). Incomplete application packages will be returned to you.
- If you have already taken a language test, contact the testing facility and ask them to send a copy of your official test results straight to CAPR.
Which process am I now?
I must also pass a language proficiency test, such as the TOEFL ibT or IELTS Academic (Overall 7.0). (Overall 92). CanTEST and TESTCan would no longer be available at the University of Ottawa, CAPR announced in December. Hence I’m focused on scoring over 7.0 on IELTS Academic. However, I’m struggling to get this score, so trying to overcome my first barrier to achieving my dream.
A candidate must speak English or French proficiently to be licenced or registered. Assume they finished their classroom and clinical requirements for physiotherapy entry-to-practice in Australia, the United States of America, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom, or France. In that circumstances, individuals are exempt from taking a language exam. Let’s say they finished their primary and secondary schooling in Canada.
